SAR placeholder campaign site planned AOI Umbra / Capella footprints
What is measurement and what is not. Coastlines are Natural Earth. Site positions, campaign numbers and the Atlanta geometry are real — the campaign figures come from merged, CI-green PRs on this repo; Atlanta is computed from published Sentinel-1 orbit parameters. The worldwide grey texture is a placeholder: synthetic speckle with the correct Rayleigh statistics for fully developed speckle, carrying no observation of the ground. It is generated_interpretation in this project's own ladder and is labelled so rather than dressed up as data. It stays a placeholder because the real basemap is not built yet — not for lack of access. Correction to an earlier claim on this page: the Sentinel-1 GRD archive (AWS Open Data, 2014–present, IW/EW/S3) is reachable from the build container — verified by range-GET of a real 537 MB granule, HTTP 206, valid TIFF header, no auth. The earlier note said no Sentinel-1 granule could be fetched; that was wrong. Only the catalog APIs (CMR, ASF, Copernicus Data Space) are blocked, and SLC — which every phase product needs — is not in that bucket. The 3,000 orange points are measured — real Umbra and Capella open-data footprints, subsampled from 17,364 harvested.
